Aloe humilis
Common Name: Hedgehog Aloe

Aloe humilis is a compact, low-growing aloe known for its spiky yet soft texture and frosted appearance. Its short, chunky leaves are covered in tiny white bumps (tubercles) and gentle spines, giving it a frosty, almost crystalline look. Native to South Africa, this hardy species forms small clumps and blooms reliably with tall flower spikes of bright orange-red tubular flowers.

Easy to care for and quick to offset, Aloe humilis is a great choice for beginner collectors and aloe lovers alike. It fits beautifully in containers, rock gardens, and sunny windowsills.

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, indirect light to full sun. Indoors, place near a sunny window. Outdoors, it enjoys morning sun and filtered afternoon light.

💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply when soil is completely dry. Aloe humilis is drought-tolerant and prefers to stay on the dry side—especially in winter.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Tolerant of temperatures down to about 25–30°F with excellent drainage. Protect from prolonged freezes. For winter orders, we recommend adding a [Heat Pack].

✨ Special Features
Frosted Texture – Covered in white bumps and spines that give it a cool, icy appearance
Clumping Growth – Offsets freely to form tidy, dense clusters over time
Reliable Bloomer – Sends up tall, colorful flower spikes in spring or early summer

Other Common Names:
Spider Aloe, Hedgehog Aloe, Frosty Aloe

This cactus will ship bare root and will be ready to place directly in a well draining soil mix like our Custom Cactus Mix.

Photos in the listings unless otherwise specified are representative of the plant that will be sent to you.
However, Plants grow differently and each plant may vary slightly in shape, size, growth pattern, etc.
Of course, if you receive a plant that you are dissatisfied with please reach out to us. We want to make it right!

If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
If temperatures where you live will be much lower than 20℉ even heat packs may not work. You may consider waiting until things warm up a bit. We know you love your plants just like we do and we wouldn't want any of them to freeze.

Hate the Price, but love the ink.
Style: Ink
I totally hate the price of printer ink, mostly when it dries out when not in constant use, but I purchased generic and my printer would not let me use it and i have avoided the firmware update. So back to buying epson ink. It worked the minute i loaded it into the printer. Epson ink is great. it was great color and quality. Just hate the price tag.

Pricey but they work
Style: Ink
Pricey but the remanufactured ones either don't work at all, or they work for a short time then go belly up...

Run out of ink quickly
Style: Ink
When you have the Epson work Workforce Pro 3820 it only accepts Epson cartridges none of the cheaper ones Epson cartridges run out of ink really fast I actually had some of the non-epson brand cartridges in there they worked a couple of times but then one day they absolutely refuse to work so they're worthless and then I had to actually buy the Epson brand name
